Everything you might want to know before your wet cupping or massage session. Still unsure? Message Hfz Zubair on WhatsApp — he's happy to help.
Wet cupping (hijama) uses cups to create suction on the skin. A few tiny, superficial scratches are then made and the cups reapplied to draw out a small amount of stagnant, "dirty" blood. It's traditionally used to support circulation, detox, pain relief and overall wellbeing — and is part of the Sunnah.
Most clients describe hijama as mild discomfort rather than pain. The suction feels tight, and the small scratches are light, quick and controlled. Many people find the session deeply relaxing.
Cupping can leave temporary circular marks where the cups were placed. They aren't painful bruises and usually fade within a few days to about two weeks, depending on your circulation.
For general wellbeing, many clients come once a month or once every few weeks. For a specific pain issue we may suggest a short series of sessions. We'll advise based on your needs.
Stay hydrated and avoid a very heavy meal right before. Many clients prefer to come on a relatively empty stomach for Sunnah cupping. Please tell us about any medical conditions or medication beforehand.
Keep the area clean and covered, drink plenty of water, rest, and avoid intense exercise, hot baths or saunas for around 24 hours. We give you simple aftercare guidance after every treatment.
Absolutely. Khadijah cares for our female clients in a private, comfortable space — including fertility and facial cupping.
Wet cupping may not be suitable if you are pregnant, taking blood thinners, or have uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders, an active infection, severe anaemia or other serious medical conditions. Please let us know beforehand and consult your doctor if you're unsure.
